Dash Cam Fitting FAQs
The questions people ask before we fit their dash cam. Anything else, ask in the enquiry form.
Do you come to me?
Yes. We fit dash cams at your home or work anywhere in Cork city and county. The car just needs to be somewhere we can open the doors and reach the fuse box.
How long does a fitting take?
About 30 to 45 minutes for a front camera and about an hour for front and rear. Hatchbacks and estates take a little longer because the rear cable has to pass into the tailgate.
Will a hardwired dash cam drain my battery?
No. The hardwire kit has a low-voltage cut-off that switches the camera off before the battery gets low, so the car still starts. We set the level to suit your car.
Where do the wires go?
Along the headliner, down the passenger-side pillar trim and into the fuse box. Nothing is left showing and your 12V socket stays free.
Can you fit a dash cam I bought myself?
Yes, as long as it comes with its hardwire cable. Fitting a front camera you supply is €70, front and rear is €110.
Does parking mode need hardwiring?
Yes. A camera plugged into the cigarette lighter loses power when you switch off, so it cannot watch the car while parked. Hardwiring it to the fuse box is what makes parking mode work.
Is it safe around the airbags?
Yes. The cable is routed behind the pillar airbag, never across the front of it, so the airbag can deploy normally.
Can you move my dash cam to a new car?
Yes. We remove it from the old car without damaging the trim and fit it in the new one in the same visit.
Do you fit dash cams to taxis and vans?
Yes. We fit three-camera systems for taxi and Uber drivers and fit vans and small fleets at your yard.
